The ”Greenways Amber Trail – nature, tradition and people” is an international heritage trail leading through Poland, Slovakia and Hungary following the ancient trade route along which amber was transported from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic. The idea of the contemporary amber trail brings back the various functions of trade routes centuries ago: business, transport, social and cultural. Celtic people were the first to take that trail, but it flourished in the times of the Roman Empire. The amber trail bustled with life of Central Europe’s residents, which is reflected in legends, country landscapes and a wealth of treasures of larger and smaller towns which developed for centuries along the trail thanks to extensive trade and cultural exchanges. Currently, this material and spiritual heritage is a leading theme of the travel along the Greenways Amber Trail.
The ” greenways”, an offer chiefly addressed to bikers (the idea was launched in the US and then imported to Europe), are aimed to promote sustainable development, landscape and cultural heritage, and a healthy lifestyle.
The trail in the Skawina Municipality runs near a charming larch-wood church dating from the 15th century in Wola Radziszowska – a jewel of local architecture.
The actual length of the trail in the project area totals 15.2 km.
